We have a new vision for St Luke’s and this is your personal invitation to be directly involved in making that vision a reality. The new vision equips us to have a sustainable Anglican presence in East City as a worshiping community for years ahead. The vision puts our caring into action and connects us with our community by serving those in need. It is exciting, creative, and a potential model for others.

During upcoming information sessions, we will outline the background, rationale, and the specifics of the new vision, including the needs of the Peterborough community and St Luke’s unique place within a growing East City community. In order to make a commitment to a new vision, it is essential that everyone who will participate in decision-making has all the facts for making an informed decision.

We expect to make a decision as a parish by Spring. In the meantime, there are two upcoming information sessions at the church—one daytime, another evening—to maximize participation. The content of each session will be the same. The sessions are to provide an opportunity for learning, conversation and interaction.

We have paid special attention to the format of the information sessions. There is time built in for small group discussions, questions and answers. We recognize the emotional implications of a courageous new vision. The information sessions will be a safe and open setting that invites each participant to identify and express how it feels to be in the process of owning a new vision as a person who cares about St Luke’s.

The members of the Planning Group have devoted much thought, prayer, and energy to identifying a new vision for St Luke’s—a vision that is courageous, faithful, proactive and do-able, and that responds to the needs of the local community. The new vision offers us the opportunity to transform our legacy of the past into a new shape and form for the future as a church with a sustainable and meaningful presence in East City.
