St Luke's takes part in local food drive

Members of the parish join with Kawartha Food Share in local food drive

One Saturday, 1 June, an energetic crew of people from St Luke's joined with others throughout Peterborough for the annual Kawartha Food Share Food Drive. Many residents placed canned goods in paper bags on the front steps for pickup by the many volunteers throughout the city.

The St Luke's crew was organized by Lorraine Brown who, with her husband Rob, heads up the parish Food Cupboard. The St Luke's crew were sporting new St Luke's T-shirts as they went from door to door in the neighbourhood and in other areas assigned to them in the city.

Huge thanks to each one of our volunteers.

As of the end of the day Saturday, volunteers across the city had collected 18,768 pounds of food. Kawartha Food Share said  that, with last minute items coming in, they expected the over all total would surpass their goal of 20,000 pounds. The drive on Saturday collected the most food ever since the project began.

So proud to see youth who were recently confirmed living out their faith through service to others!
