Since early 2018, St Luke's has been exploring partnership opportunities with Jenn McCallum, a Coordinator in the Sustainable Urban Neighbourhoods (SUN) section of Peterborough GreenUP. SUN has been piloting several initiatives that include community gardens in Peterborough and specifically in the Curtis Creek area. St Luke's is a central location in that neighbourhood in East City.
The goals of the garden projects focus on availability of fresh food, climate change practices, food literacy, and engagement with people in local neighbourhoods.
St Luke's is now in the process of moving forward in establishing community gardens on its property for neighbours who have made commitments through the local programmes.
