On 1 January 2017, The Rev’d Glenn Empey was officially appointed as priest-in-charge for St Luke’s parish. The appointment is on a half-time basis in addition to his other responsibilities in ministry. Father Glenn continues to serve as parish priest at St Matthew – St Aidan’s in nearby Buckhorn. He also serves as the Director, Spiritual Affairs (Trent Chaplaincy) at Trent University.

After his Ordination in the Diocese of Huron, Father Glenn served as a parish priest in that diocese. For the following number of years, he worked in major healthcare facilities. First he served as Coordinator of Pastoral Services at University Hospital in London, Ontario. He then, became Director of Chaplaincy Services at the Hamilton Civic Hospitals which later merged with other Hamilton healthcare facilities to form Hamilton Health Sciences. After over 15 years in hospital ministry and pastoral education, he became Chaplain at Lakefield College School.

For the last number of years, I am back to parish ministry which I love. It is a great experience to be able to journey with people who are actively engaged in their journey of faith and in putting the mission of Christ into action in our changing world. I am very pleased and honoured to be the parish priest for St Luke’s. We have a great team and I am looking forward to our ministry and our new visioning.

I am deeply aware of the challenges that the People of St Luke’s have faced in the last few years. I am hoping to bring a pastoral presence for the parish as we begin the next steps in our parish life.

Father Glenn will alternate Sundays between Buckhorn and Peterborough. Lay readers of St Luke’s are assisting in the alternation of location by officiating at Morning Prayer at each parish when Father Glenn is at the other. During the week-days, Father Glenn expects to spend at least half-time engaged in the work and ministry of St Luke’s.
